Badger welcomes Rat and Mole to his home. After supper, Rat tells Badger about Toad’ s obsession with motorcars. Mole and Rat spend the night, and the next morning they enjoy breakfast with some of Badger’ s other guests. Badger gives Mole a tour of his many rooms, which were once part of a humancity. Mole feels right at home in Badger’ s underground mansion, but Rat is restless and anxious to get back to the river. Otter arrives, looking for Rat and Mole, and they make their way back to Rat’ s home.
