George Washington Carver is a biographical text that chronicles the accomplishments of an African-American scientist. Born into slavery but set free after the Civil War, Carver struggled to get an education during a time of segregated schools. He eventually became a professor of agricultureand inventor who dedicated his life to helping farmers, and became famous in the process.
